The Animals Observatory SS22 Collection

Welcome to The Animals Observatory Spring/Summer 2022 world. Made with the heart. With the aim to be timeless and to create unforgettable memories with your children. Introducing patchwork motives, marine stripe pieces or kitsch plaid and tartan patterns in dungarees.

With an extraordinary ability to translate her imagination into unique pieces, Laia Aguilar has recreated the vision of Elizabeth Payton's beauty concept and the vibe of the early Woody Allen's films into a collection full of sunshine and creativity.

Sustainability.

Sustainability is no longer an afterthought, it is the driving force of everything we do. Since the beginning we have vowed to celebrate the beauty of the passage of time through things, it’s number 1 on our manifesto. We can only do this by putting sustainability at the core of everything we do.

PRODUCTION AND MATERIALS

CIRCULAR ECONOMY: Part of our cotton garments are made from 100% cotton, 80% virgin cotton and 20% of which is recycled cotton made from leftover and faulty material from our previous productions. We collected this material from our producers, and paid a negotiated price. As intended, all companies involved in this process were from the same region in order to keep this process more environmentally friendly. To verify the authenticity of the new recycled fabric, all organizations taking part in this process must be certified with the Global Recycled Standard and Made in Green certifications.

The defective pieces of clothing from previous seasons (2500 kg) have been used to create a new recycled textile for upcoming sustainable collections (600 kg).

The whole process is carried out in Portugal and Catalonia (collecting scraps and faulty items in Portugal, crushing up the material in Olot, spinning the recycled material in Girona and weaving the material in Portugal, fabrication of the final product in Portugal.

As intended all companies involved in this process were from the same region in order to keep this process more environmentally friendly. To verify the authenticity of the new recycled fabric, all organizations taking part in this process must be certified with the Global Recycled Standard and Made in Green certifications.

PRODUCTION: The Animals Observatory decided to move production near Braga (North of Portugal) based on the following criteria:

  1. Working conditions
  2. Production capabilities with different textiles
  3. Recommendations from other providers
  4. Communication and transparency
  5. Payment conditions
  6. Production and delivery capacity

REACH: (All our suppliers fulfill REACH* regulation) stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals and is a European Union regulation adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals.

SEQUAL: Almost all our swimsuits are made with Seaqual. The SEAQUAL INITIATIVE is dedicated to working directly with local communities and organizations who clean waste from our marine environment. Upcycled Marine Plastic is made only from plastic waste that has been collected from the water or from the water’s edge, SEAQUAL INITIATIVE does not include plastic collected on land from coastal or island communities in Upcycled Marine Plastic.

RECYCLING: Our production packaging is made of 100% recycled and recyclable plastic (made in Portugal as well).
